Summer School on Telemedical care: facilitators and barriers in the West Balkan region

Budva, Montenegro. August 2-6, 2022

A summer school in the field of telemedicine dedicated to its achievements and barriers in the area of ​​the Western Balkans in Budva. The organizers of the school are the HTWG University of Konstanz and the University of Montenegro, with the support of the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD). The concept of this Summer School consists of the repetition of a two-day skeleton: with classical lectures to impart knowledge, followed by workshops conducted by the same experts. Students and young scientists thus acquire first-hand knowledge and can deepen this in the working groups of the workshops and, of course, contribute their ideas.

30 students, lecturers and researchers from 14 European countries (Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Kosovo, Croatia, Northern Macedonia, Montenegro, Bulgaria, Greece, Romania, Slovenia, Turkey, Hungary, Serbia, Germany) were awarded for their participation in the school, with an emphasis on the region. Each country presented its state-of-the-art and future perspectives of telemedicine in their country. Thematic areas include, among others, best practices, IT-platforms and artificial intelligence, technical, economic, legal, ethical and social aspects, cross-border cooperation, PhD panels, working tables and discussions. Every day there were discussion between PhD students from different countries to talk about their ideas and topics related to telemedicine in their country. The lecturers gave them advice, their views on the themes covered.
